Bagdad Road is one of Leander’s major growth corridors. Not only is the road home to a budding office park and retail community, but the roadway serves as a thoroughfare for the multiple neighborhoods and two LISD schools adjacent to the road. The City of Leander needed to improve travel conditions along this roadway to enhance the quality of life for the citizens who use Bagdad Road daily.
Bagdad Road presents a complicated design process for the sidewalks with the large amounts of drainage along the road. The City of Leander hired KSA Engineers, Inc. to provide civil design and bidding for sidewalks on the thoroughfare.
The sidewalks were designed in three areas:
Area 1 - Western right-of-way of Bagdad Road south of Crystal Falls Parkway to the high school
Area 2 - Eastern right-of-way of Bagdad Road south of Crystal Falls Parkway to Ketterling Drive
Area 3 - Western right-of-way of Bagdad Road north of Crystal Falls Parkway to the park just north of Eagles Way
The project included 8’ sidewalks, reconstruction of residential and commercial driveways, reconstruction of one street intersection, retaining walls, and installation of two pedestrian bridges. |
