The longest-tenured employee in the KSA family has passed away. Lenton Newman, who worked as a Project Representative at the Tyler Division, died Friday evening at his home in Tyler. He was 67 years old.
Lenton was hired in 1966 as a temporary employee to work on a field crew staking the Black Fork Creek Outfall Sewer Line in Tyler.
"Proving himself to be a valuable employee, his temporary employment evolved into 46 years of loyal service to the company and our clients," said Principal Tracy Hicks, P.E.
For his entire adult career, he worked as an inspector — but to his coworkers he was much more than that.
"He was a roving good-will ambassador among our clients and our contractors," said Principal Lynn Hitt, P.E. "This company has never had a more loyal nor exemplary employee. Lenton was a personal hero of mine."
For the KSA "family," one might say Lenton represented the heart and soul. He always wanted the best job that could be done and was never content with mediocre work. He worked tirelessly without complaint and was most often the first person to arrive at a work site and the last to leave.
"Lenton was small in stature but possessed heart and character bigger than Texas," Lynn added. "Never loud, never spiteful, never overbearing yet always respected by his coworkers, our clients and contractors."
"As for me," added Sigi West, Project Assistant, "I will forever have a hole in my heart for our loss. I know that anyone who had the pleasure of working with Lenton loved him and respected him."
