There's big news in KSA Engineers' Survey Division! One employee has just passed his Texas RPLS exam while another has passed his New Mexico PLS exam.
Damian Jagers passed the Texas RPLS exam and thus completes the final step in the process to become a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Jagers has worked for KSA since 2004, which was after a move to Texas from his native San Diego, California. He holds a B.A. in Computer Applications and Networking, with a minor in Management. He holds an additional degree in Behavioral Science and Psychology.
Jagers has held several positions within KSA, learning the basics of surveying from the ground up. While out in the field, he worked on various projects around the state, from oil and gas work to highway projects. He also has surveyed several airports. In addition, his experience extends to construction staking, boundary work, water lines, and sewer lines. He has worked in R.O.W. acquisitions and staking. While in the office, Jagers has worked in platting and legal descriptions while maintaining excellent working relationships with major survey clients. He was the liaison between KSA and the Bureau of Land Management in working to obtain a permit to allow KSA the right to survey in all National Forest Areas across the state of Texas.
"KSA has been extremely supportive in standing behind my career choices and helping me to fulfill my goals in my journey to become an RPLS," Jagers said. "In the future, I look to acquire my registration in other states so that I will be a valuable asset to KSA as they expand their company. I also look to become part of the management team here at KSA so that my experience in the field can be a valuable tool for newer employees."
KSA is extremely pleased to have an additional registered surveyor on staff. Business continues to expand and qualified/experienced professionals are the key to project success.
Jeff Hudson has also made his mark by recently passing the New Mexico PLS exam. This will be the third state he is registered to work in, the first two being Texas and Louisiana.
Hudson has been with the firm since 1988. He has been the surveyor on a number of federally funded projects since 1988, including Federal Aviation Administration, United States Forestry Service and Texas Department of Transportation projects.
He has been the project surveyor on all KSA's airport projects funded by the Federal Aviation Administration or the Aviation Division of TxDOT since 1988. In addition to these projects, he has extensive experience with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Because of this broad experience with federal and state government agencies, he is very familiar with the contracting requirements and surveying methodology needed for both boundary and engineering design.
"My experience here has been very rewarding and challenging," Hudson said. "I’m looking forward to surveying in New Mexico for the change in scenery and the challenge of surveying in a public land system state."
