KSA goes red for women |

Ask anyone at KSA Engineers, Inc. what his or her favorite color is and you'll probably get the same response: "Red."
At least, that's everyone's favorite color this first week of February as the engineering company kicks off a week-long fundraiser
benefitting the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign.
Red is the AHA's color to promote awareness of women and heart disease for February, which is national heart health month.
The color symbolizes women's power to take control of their health and compassion for the women whose lives have been
affected by heart disease.
"To stimulate heart disease awareness and help raise money for the cause, we've organized an entire week's worth of activities
for our company," said KSA President Joncie Young, P.E.
KSA has a calendar of events that are sure to encourage employee participation. January 31 marked the kick-off event: The Bake
Sale. That morning, KSA raised more than $80 on breakfast items alone.
The rest of the week will offer other fundraising opportunities, including Tuesday's ice cream social; Wednesday's raffle for a
coveted parking spot; Thursday's casual day, where employees are encouraged to make a monetary donation in return for an
extra day of wearing their favorite jeans; and everyone’s favorite on Friday, the annual chili cook-off.
The week ends on Friday, February 4 —National Wear Red Day. That day, KSA will be a sea of red as employees join thousands of communities and organizations across America in support of Go Red for Women.
"Our participation in National Wear Red Day is to raise awareness of a preventable disease," Young said. "Between our eight
offices in Texas, we see hundreds of people. If they ask why we're wearing red, it will allow us to engage in conversation about
the Heart Association's efforts. This movement is just another example of KSA's commitment to improving the communities in
which we live."

About Go Red For Women
Since 2004, Go Red For Women has captured the energy, passion and intelligence of women to work collectively to wipe out
heart disease — the No. 1 killer of women. We want millions of women across America to take heart disease personally. Using
the platform “Love Your Heart,” Go Red For Women engages women and the men who love them to embrace the cause.
Healthcare providers, celebrities and politicians also elevate the cause and spread the word about women and heart disease.
Go Red for Women is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and Merck.
About the American Heart Association
Since 1924, the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the ravages of heart
disease and stroke. These diseases, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers, claim more than 870,000 American lives a year.
Through events and programs, the association raises money to fund research, professional and public education, and advocacy
so people across America can live stronger, longer lives.
