KSA Engineers, Inc. was hired by the City of Nacogdoches to construct a new 500,000 gallon elevated storage tank and demolish an existing 250,000 gallon unit. The proposed tank formed a new pressure zone with in the City of Nacogdoches water system.
During this project, KSA adjusted pressure plane boundaries to obtain TCEQ compliance and increase service pressure in noncompliant areas.
Pressure plane boundary modifications allowed an existing elevated tank which was of insufficient height to maintain TCEQ minimum water pressures to be demolished and removed.
The new tank is a waterspheriod elevated water storage tank supported by a single pedestal positioned on a conical base. Design provides a dry roof access riser and multipurpose space inside the conical base.
Pressure plane boundary adjustments were based upon computer modeling of the City of Nacogdoches water system. Project Manager, Alan Draper, generated the first modern computer model of the City of Nacogdoches water system over 10 years ago, and KSA has continually updated the computer model since.
