The New Braunfels Municipal Airport provides a safe and efficient transportation portal into the national airspace system for New Braunfels and the surrounding area. When the City of New Braunfels decided that it was time for improvements to be made, officials called on KSA Engineers, Inc. to assist them in designs targeting pavement construction, drainage, and electrical issues.
During Phase 1 of the project, KSA designed the reconstruction of the northeast ramp. As work progressed, the firm designed an HMAC overlay of Runway 13-31 (5,350’ x 100’), a taxiway system (A, B, C, D, E, and F), and a terminal apron.
KSA also designed the reconstruction of the northeast parking apron (400’ x 300’), all the while developing drainage improvements
associated with the apron. The MIRLs for Runway 13-31 were replaced, and new MITLs were installed. The project also included PAPI-4’s for RW 13-31 and new guidance signs.
In addition, the electrical vault was relocated to an area near the terminal building.
