Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport lies approximately 60 miles southwest of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. The airport serves the dynamic role of providing commercial passenger service for the City of Lawton and southwest Oklahoma including military personnel stationed at Fort Sill.
The airport also provides a hub for air cargo and serves a wide array of general aviation, charter and military aircraft operations.
The airport boasts a 8,600-foot by 150-foot runway in need of partial reconstruction. The City called upon KSA to provide the professional engineering design of this project and to continue to work on other programmed airport improvement projects with the award of a five-year professional services contract.
Design of the runway reconstruction project began in May 2009, and the design completion date was November 2009. The project is set to be bid and constructed in FY 2012.
The proposed work includes:
- 6” Unbonded PCC Overlay/Reconstruction of South 2,438’ of Runway 17-35
- Runway Lighting Improvements
- Restripe Runway 17-35
- Route, Clean, and Seal All Runway Joints
