The city of Marion has started the leg work on a project that will make it safer for children to get to school.

The city hired KSA Engineers to start the design work for its Safe Routes to School Project, funded by a $499,800 federal grant, administered by the Texas Department of Transportation. The project will allow Marion to build sidewalks and bike paths on two major streets and one major thoroughfare, making it safer for children to get to school. Marion is one of 200 cities statewide participating in the project.
