| In May, 2005, the City of Taylor Park Foundation acquired 75 acres from Williamson County to develop a park which is located off Hwy 95. This Park serves as an athletic complex for the area and includes such amenities as baseball, softball, soccer fields, a full size football field, basketball courts, concessions and restrooms, playscapes for children, trails and a nature area with a lake. Unfortunately, the park did not have adequate water and wastewater utilities. It also was in need of access roads, parking lots and a host of other additions.
KSA Engineers, Inc. came into the project full speed ahead, providing the city of Taylor with several must-have pieces to enjoy a perfect park. To tackle the drainage situation, the engineers designed site grading to accommodate 10 baseball/softball fields, two soccer fields and one football field totaling 88,000 cubic yards of cut; 75,000 cubic yards of fill; and 14,000 cubic yards of select fill. In addition, KSA designed 1,210 feet of storm sewer, a detention/retention pond with wetland plantings to provide bank stability and aesthetic appeal. 4,200 feet of waterline was constructed for the water distribution system to accommodate domestic, fire and irrigation needs, and a sanitary sewer was put in place to serve on-site restroom facilities. Finally, access roads and parking lots were constructed using 32,000 square feet of HMAC pavement. |
