Sugar Land Brooks Street Hike and Bike Trail
Sugar Land, Texas
Leander Bagdad Road
Because trails had been identified as a high priority in the City of Sugar Land’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, the
Hike and Bike Trail Master Plan was been adopted. The master plan identified off-street and on-street routes for utilization by bicyclists
and pedestrians. The main goal of the city’s Hike and Bike Trail Master Plan was to create a connected system of routes for
pedestrians and bicyclists for exercise, recreation and mobility. The plan focused on linking portions of the City together as well as
connecting neighborhoods to parks, schools, libraries, shopping areas and other areas of interest.

The City of Sugar Land called on KSA Engineers, Inc. for the design of hike and bike trails along Brooks Street from the south side of
US Highway 90A to the east side of State Highway 6.  The total length of the project from US Highway 90A to SH 6 is approximately
6,000 feet.  The project included the installation of concrete trails with associated demolition, excavation, fill, bedding, compaction,
storm water pollution prevention measures, site restoration, traffic control, pavement striping, signage, and appurtenances.  The
project also included pedestrian handrails for crossing the existing bridge over Brooks Lake.
