The holidays can be a difficult time for members of our community, which is why KSA Engineers, Inc. strives to give back in any way it can. In an effort to help keep shelves at Longview Community Ministries (LCM) stocked during this holiday season, KSA recently held a two-week holiday canned food drive.

“We all felt that with times being the way they are, we wanted to do something to help any way we could, and LCM is a great organization,” said Joncie Young, P.E., KSA president.

Though this isn't their first year to host a food drive, it has definitely been their most successful.

The Longview-based company organized a friendly competition between its departments, which spurred employees to bring in truckloads of canned, boxed and bagged goods. By the time the last can was counted, more than 2,300 items were ready to be taken to LCM.

"We had an overwhelming response from our employees during this year's food drive," Young said. "I am so proud of how our staff stepped up to help the Longview community. We have a lot of caring people who work here."

KSA's substantial donation will help LCM feed about 480 individuals, according to Donna Sharp, executive director of LCM.

"KSA's donation makes a tremendous impact on LCM’s food distribution," she added.  "East Texas is a generous place in which to live ... it warms my heart to see those coming through with donations. LCM meets critical needs for Longview residents – and our services would be greatly limited without the generosity of groups such as KSA's."
